Just get over it, amirite??

This is possibly the most offensive blog post I've ever read: people who engage in emotional eating as a response to childhood abuse should just get over it.

Yes, it's tragic that daddy hit you or your creepy uncle touched you when you were 12. But that doesn't mean you need to be shoving donuts down your throat at 30...Once they've made the realization and the association, the next step is to... get over it.

Really, get over it.

You had a shitty childhood. That sucks. I'm sorry. Now can we stop with the egocentric pity party?

People have experienced much worse in this world. It may be a factor in your actions, but it's not an excuse. There's no need to wallow in it.

Unconscious defense mechanisms are forgivable. Rampant self-pity is not.

BTW, my new self-help book, Boo Hoo! Get Over It, Fattie! will be available soon from Rodale.

Normally, I would write it off as trolling, but this guy is for real. Basically, he pitches a "diet" that involves not eating any food and just subsisting off of supplements, presumably as a way of selling more supplements. He updates his "LiveSpill" every. single. day. with fat hatred sentiments and maintains an equally offensive blog which has, unfortunately, successfully shamed numerous people into actually spending ~$500/month to not eat food.

Some other blog entries:

"I think ice cream trucks should be required to speed up when a fat kid tries to wave them down for a Choco Taco. When porky starts to give up, the truck should slow down a little, get the kid's hopes up, then speed up again when he's almost at the window. This should continue until fat-boy burns the 300 calories contained in the aforementioned ice cream novelty."

"I'm betting that half the anti-depressant and anxiety meds used these days would become unnecessary if people cleaned up their diets and started exercising."

"Just about every preventable disease that can kill you or greatly interfere with you leading a full life is caused by, or exacerbated by, excess body fat."

"So if shame is what it takes for you to reach your body goals, then I say, be ashamed. Then get to work, Fatty."

"I hate laziness. I hate excuse-making. I hate rationalization and self-bullshitting. I hate willful ignorance. I hate watching people piss away their potential. I hate it when people blame everyone but themselves. I hate mental weakness. And that pretty much describes most fat people."

"Maybe I really do hate fat people. Because, as you'll see, this isn't a 'live and let live' topic. Fat people affect all of us."

This guy is just fucking stupid. Honestly, he sounds a bit like my uncle.

WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK. What a sad little prick who can't be happy unless he judges other people's body sizes. Well, he can kiss my fat ass.

OMG what a fucking douchnozzle.

Hey, you know what else affects all of us? Judgmental fuckstains who get off on policing other peoples' bodies.

Wow, who has that kind of energy - to be spending that much time worrying about other peoples' bodies. It makes me tired just to think about it.

Also he is a dick.

EXCUSE ME DID YOU JUST TELL ABUSE VICTIMS TO GET OVER IT?

also

"I'm betting that half the anti-depressant and anxiety meds used these days would become unnecessary if people cleaned up their diets and started exercising."

because all depression is totally because of body image issues DONTCHA KNOW

TL;DR: FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU.

That makes even less sense given the whole "getting/being fat is just a coping mechanism" theory. "Are you overeating because you're depressed? Just stop overeating and the depression will get better!"

WOW the anti-depressant and anxiety medication quote is almost exactly what my father said to me a few months ago. ugh this guy is a gigantic fishbutt. worry about your own body

I had a so called "friend" tell me that. And the WHAT THE FLYING FUCK of it is, she was a psych nurse for well over 20 years :x

I absolutely believe that's a real book. And I'm willing to wager that in two years it'll be a movie starring Drew Barrymore.

Hey convenient! He hates fat people and as a fat person I hate him

Whoa, what an idiot.

"I'm betting that half the anti-depressant and anxiety meds used these days would become unnecessary if people cleaned up their diets and started exercising."
Lawl I'm sure that the people with work-out addictions with obsessive tendencies when it comes to their diets are glad to hear that they're already doing the right thing and can stop taking their meds and feel fine about themselves instead of, you know, still depressed and battling addiction.

oh my god. reading that actually made me want to cry. this guy has no fucking right to tell people that their pain is no greater than anybody else's. what the fucking fuck.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is his way of dealing with personal trauma.

"I'm betting that half the anti-depressant and anxiety meds used these days would become unnecessary if people cleaned up their diets and started exercising."

Guess I should tell my fit vegan sister to just get the fuck over herself then, since her depression can't be real.

Fucking asshole.

Every time I read about these "I hate fat people" people, I think of Ben Stiller's character in Dodgeball.

....and he can kiss the fattest part of my ass.

"I'm betting that half the anti-depressant and anxiety meds used these days would become unnecessary if people actually stopped hating The Other like society demands them to and instead embraced everyone as human beings who deserve dignity."

"Just about every preventable disease that can kill you or greatly interfere with you leading a full life is caused by, or exacerbated by, denying your body of the necessary nutrition and calories it needs in order to function correctly."

"So if shame is what it takes for you to understand that hate is not okay, then I say, be ashamed. Then get to work, asshole."

"I hate whining. I hate excuse-making. I hate rationalization and self-bullshitting for why it's okay to talk shit about other people. I hate willful ignorance of what these people go through. I hate watching people piss away their potential by going on inane diets that hurt them physically, emotionally and mentally, in order to impress a society that doesn't even like to acknowledge they exist. I hate it when people blame everyone but themselves for why they're so hateful. I hate mental weakness. And that pretty much describes most thin people who hate fat people."

"Maybe I really do hate assholes. Because, as you'll see, this isn't a 'live and let live' topic. Assholes affect all of us."

This is exactly what I needed today. A big plate of fat shame with a steaming side of victim blaming.

Like I didn't already feel inferior to skinny girls, I'm being told how to feel by a man with a stereotypical "perfect" men's body.

FUCK THIS DICKWAD

Well, someone has a tiny penis.

Among other things. He spends tons of time shelling out nutrition fitness advice (most of which is hilariously wrong) on a site about supplements muscle-building, and he doesn't even remotely look like he lifts weights.

I had to look up orthorexic. I had no idea that was an actual thing.

Yeah he can kiss my fat, childhood abuse-surviving ass.

The fuck is this, blame the victim day? Dude, fuck you and your supplements. Completely dismissing legitimate psychiatric conditions to hype your special"diet" just makes you look more like a twat. Your standup routine wasn't funny when Dennis Leary was doing it, it sure as shit ain't funny now.

I clicked the last link and read a comment by SquatyMax talking about how his wife is overweight because of her kidney failure and related issues and wanted to cheer his words.

And then that fucking asshole had to respond with this:

pdub690 wrote:
squattmax, i'm sorry to hear about all that but this article was not written (i believe) about your wife or anyone with conditions such as hers. This article was written about the 450lb chubbers who decide to eat McDonalds 3 meals a day and BK the other 3. Health conditions do not apply to the people targeted by Chris...I believe he was berating those who CHOOSE to live that lifestyle of hopelessness and laziness, not those who can't help it....just a thought.

Yep, you nailed it.

There are very few who can legitimately claim health problems, and many of those still make things worse: overeating added to an existing medical condition etc.

If I were in that condition, I'd hate the lazy fat people this article was written about too.

Is it me seeing through red-rage coloured glasses or was this douchecanoe slamming this guy's wife in an indirect way? (with the sideways claim that she might have been someone that made her health issue worse by overeating?)

I'd love to know how this guy can identify what causing each and every over weight and obese person to be that way. Is it medical, psychological, a combination, laziness? Please tell us O Great Mystical Magical Pile of Bull Shit from where you got your Magical Medical Degree. Because surely we all should get one so we can fart out rainbows and puppies and make the world a better and thinner place for all.

[sarcasm]

Well, if she IS overeating, then her weight is completely inexcusable, because it's not like someone with kidney failure who has to get dialysis 3x/week might have better things to worry about than fitting into a size six. And if she's NOT overeating, then she can't take offense to his article! Because when he complains that the fatties are using up all of his TAX DOLLARZ, suggests that parents tell their kids to "point and make 'eeeeeew' noises when they see fat people", and asserts that we make it too easy to be fat in our society by i.e. providing motorized wheelchairs for people who aren't disabled enough, he's talking about those *other* fatties. You know, the ones who just get fat for funsies, like survivors of childhood sexual abuse who are now struggling with compulsive overeating in their adulthood. No, she has no right to feel bad when she reads an article like that.

[/sarcasm]

"I'm betting that half the anti-depressant and anxiety meds used these days would become unnecessary if people cleaned up their diets and started exercising."

HEY, YOU. FUUUUUUUUUUUCK YOU!

Also, am I the only one who saw that line and (outside of the GIANT BUBBLE OF RAGE) wondered if this guy's a Scientiologist of sorts? I mean, his "VITAMINS!" schtick sounds very Tom Cruise vs. Brooke Shields.

Oh wow what a troll.

Jesus Christ who could hate fat people that much? (maybe he's a self-loathing former fatty HERP DERP)
I'm going to CONTINUE being fat AND eat a BLT just to spite him.

Oh, he's a "former fat boy". So he's allowed to hate fatties because he knows how easy it was for him once he decided to lay off the Cheetos. His experience is COMPLETELY THE SAME as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse who now struggles with emotional eating, right??
